Friday 16th September, 6:00pm, 2016 - Ian Hanger Recital Hall, QLD Conservatorium
POSTPONED DUE TO ILLNESS
Robert Schumann – Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, op.63
Felix Mendelssohn – Piano Trio No.2 in C minor, op.66
Schumann’s first piano trio is the work of a quintessential Romantic, filled with dramatic contrasts of character, both brooding and courageous. Mendelssohn's passionate Second Piano Trio was composed in 1845, over a period of just six weeks. This virtuosic masterwork pushes each of the instruments to their limits, with Mendelssohn himself (one of the great keyboard virtuosi of the 19th century) describing the third movement scherzo as being “a trifle tricky to play”. Sparks will fly!
This is the third concert of Lyrebird Trio’s 2016 residency at the Conservatorium.

Unfortunately due to illness, the trio has had to postpone this concert. We hope to find an alternative date in the near future, once Angela is back in good health.
